I started making this for my nephew, Tommy, in November. When it wasn't done by his birthday, I lost my motivation until some ladies at work heard me talk about the aligator scarf and wanted to see it. While it sat in my bag, I was motivated to work on it during downtime at work. Now, here it is about a month after putting it in my work bag...finished!

I lost your comment, but I did read it first. I think that you could manage this. It is mostly just plain knitting with some increases and casting off for the eyes and scales.
I am sure lil' man will love it.
