Valentine's Day 2025

Chad and I agreed that our trip last weekend counted as anniversary and Valentine's Day. (We often combine them since they are so close together.) It kind of made the day boring, especially since I already gave the kids their gifts. However, we did still celebrate a bit.

First, Noel went shopping after work and bought me some presents: a weighted stuffed bunny, body butter, and socks that I can wear to church and the temple because she knows I'm not a fan of wearing my purple long socks with emojis with dresses (I will wear them to church with my boots if it's cold). These gifts were so thoughtful that they almost made me cry. She is seriously so thoughtful!

Then, made a heart shaped pizza. It was a bit lopsided, but still tasty. Sean and Chad even tried to convince me that it looked more like a heart than I claimed.

After dinner, Chad and I went out for ice cream...at the grocery store. Are we romantic or what? He even searched for the rocky road that I really wanted.

Finally, he went to bed as I stayed up until the boyfriend went home. The sweet small thing he did, and often does, was put the remote on my pillow. He likes to sleep without the tv, but I need the distraction for my brain. When we go to bed at separate times, he puts the remote and sometimes my Kindle on my pillow so I don't have to search for them in the dark. Then, I make sure the sleep timer is set so he doesn't have to sleep without it on too much at night. (We have tried sleeping without the tv, I struggle to fall asleep.)

I love my family and the little things they do to show love. We may not need a day set aside to prove it, but it nice to have a day set aside just for love.

Valentine’s Day 2024

I like Valentine’s Day. My husband and kids love it. Yesterday, Chad gave me this beautiful bouquet. Then, we went to Walmart and got Sean and Noel stuffed animals and treats. Of course, I gave them to the kids when we got home. I can’t wait every time I get them gifts.

Today, I made a heart shaped pizza for dinner. Our tradition was getting it from Papa Murphy, but after the Halloween pizza fiasco, I had no desire to go through that again. It is a bit fun to make pizza crust from scratch and shape it, too. I don’t know how many Valentine’s Days I have left with these two in the home, and I want to soak up these traditions while I can. I already have to miss Eric.

Halloween Pizza

I love getting holiday shaped pizzas from Papa Murphy’s. Getting heart shaped pizzas on Valentines Day was one of the few traditions I kept after the ex left. I don’t know why, but a heart pizza for Valentines Day and Jack-o-lantern pizza for Halloween just tastes a bit better.

Today, I ordered a Jack-o-lantern pizza online around 2:30 to pick up at 4:45 as I took Noel home from school. When I got there, the line was going out the door and a bit down the sidewalk. I called to see if the pizza was ready, and they told me it would talk another 30 to 40 minutes. I went home and sent Chad back a half hour later thinking it would be ready to pick up. It was not.

We hen Chad got there, he was told to stand in line but not where to stand. The first line was apparently only for people who had yet to order. When he got to the front, he was sent to the other line, so he called me to tell me what was going on. After 10 or 15 minutes in that line, he called again wanting to just cancel the order. I was fine with that as long as we got out money back and he came up with a backup plan for dinner. At this point, an employee told the people in this line that they could cancel the order the next day and wait 2-3 days for the refund. I didn’t like this idea. They already charged my card because it was an online order. He agreed with me and stayed in the line. Once he got to the front of the line, they started the order. Apparently, even though I ordered 2 hours in advance and checked in when it was scheduled to be ready, it was not ready yet. In fact, they were making the pizzas that were ordered in person first. Chad was finally home an hour after he left.

I have never had issues with this Papa Murphy’s in the past. They were definitely overextended. The point of irritation for me is that online orders are usually a high enough priority that this shouldn’t have happened. We were able to get our pizza, but it was a pain to get. I may have to make it myself in the future.
